Lent 2023 Ecology Calendar

As part of the ongoing commitment to environmental care by all members of the Irish Jesuit Province, for Lent 2023, the Jesuit Centre for Faith and Justice has produced a calendar with some simple ideas to reduce our carbon footprint and help to lessen our impact on the planet.

The calendar has dates where we can make a small positive change to our daily habit that is a step towards becoming more environmentally friendly. We can walk or take the bus instead of driving to work, we can try not to buy any single-use plastic, or we can have a day where we don’t eat meat.

For these changes, the dates are just suggestions – any day where we can make a change to lessen our footprint is the ‘right’ day. We have posted hard copies of the calendar to Jesuit works and communities, and have a digital copy available here to download: Irish Jesuit Province Lenten Ecology Calendar 2023

Climate Collage Workshops

Some dates have been identified as days to ‘attend a climate workshop’. Ciara from the Jesuit Centre for Faith and Justice is running Climate Collage Workshops in Dublin on the 9th, 22nd and 29th March. These are half day events where participants are led through a series of questions, in groups, that will help to explain the exact nature of our carbon footprint and how it can be altered. To register your interest, please email [email protected]

We hope that as many people in the Irish Jesuit Province as possible will attend these events because we all need the tools they provide for us to navigate towards a low-carbon environment, and they are a fun way to learn about these issues.
