Job Description

The Jesuit Centre for Faith and Justice (JCFJ) seeks a Director who is committed to the development and implementation of a Strategic Plan for the centre which will further its mission of informing opinion and advocating for governmental and institutional policy change to combat social and global injustice in its key areas of interest, through the promotion of an Ignatian ethos and Catholic Social Teaching. The Director will report to the JCFJ Board of Management.

Job Duties

Promotion of the centre’s social analysis and Ignatian ethos through engagement with relevant stakeholders including religious and lay peer organisations, the media and policy makers. Management of the production of the centre’s journal, Working Notes. Responsibility for financial and general administration, including reports, budgets and funding applications. Management of personnel and implementation of operational plans which cohere with the overall Strategic Plan, as well as training opportunities. Identification of new strategic opportunities for the centre, and development of work proposals for the Board. Overseeing the legal and physical aspects of centre property. Collaboration and liaison with other Jesuit works within Ireland and throughout Europe.

Skills & Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a knowledge of and commitment to social justice and an awareness of the Ignatian ethos and Catholic Social Teaching, with a third-level qualification in social sciences or theology. Experience of strategic planning for an organisation and of team management is desirable, as well as knowledge of the non-profit sector and advocacy. The person must have excellent written, verbal and presentation skills and be IT proficient. Expertise in one of the centre’s key areas of interest is favourable.

Salary

Full-time, permanent position. Salary negotiable, dependent on experience.

The Jesuit Centre for Faith and Justice is a faith-based, non-profit organisation working to combat injustice and marginalisation in Irish society, through analysis, education and advocacy. Our work highlights complex social issues to inform opinion and advocate for governmental policy change, with the goal of creating a fair and equitable society for everyone, in line with the Ignatian ethos and Catholic Social Teaching. The centre’s key areas of interest are; prison and penal policy, housing and homelessness, environmental justice and economic justice.
