Statement on Ryan Report from JCFJ

The Jesuit Centre for Faith and Justice has expressed its shock in the aftermath of the publication of the Ryan Report. In particular, as a Centre of Justice of the Society of Jesus, we are shamed that vulnerable children were abused in such a terrible fashion while in the care of religious and of the State.
Just reparation for such widespread and systemic abuse is an absolute requirement. We welcome the statement of the eighteen Congregations cited in the Report that they wish to make further financial contributions as part of this reparation, within a process that is to be transparent.
